So why would you want to try out Sama Therapeutics? Well, let me start by telling you that I love massage therapy and that it completely transformed my life. I had chronic shoulder pain for years before I met a massage therapist who worked with me to bring about massive changes in both my body and mind. In the first few sessions, I noticed a radical decrease in pain. Over time, however, I was not only moving with less pain, but my range of motion was dramatically increased. Because of my fascination with the anatomy I spent a couple of years experimenting on myself and getting semi-regular massages to continue to open up my restricted shoulder. It was well worth the time and effort. Now, my shoulder is in a place it has not been in years, if ever before. At Sama, this is my goal. Although relaxation massage is tremendously powerful in its own right, at Sama I am much more interested in working the deep, structural blockages in your body. I want you to leave my office knowing that you will move with greater efficiency, a lack of restriction, and of course, less pain.
This type of work, however, is not for everyone. If you’re expecting a quick fix you’re in the wrong place. Minor neck or shoulder pain from sleeping incorrectly may only take a session or two to knock out, but long-standing injuries or chronic pain will take time and patience to release. In fact, you are going to have to put in some work outside the office to see lasting changes. Massage is not a magic pill that will cure all your ailments. Now don’t get me wrong, some sessions can really feel like magic, but when you leave my office you can expect to do some “homework” before your next visit. This homework may include some myofascial release techniques with a foam roller or lacrosse ball. It may also include a short sequence of yoga poses or stretches to keep your body open. In short, the goal is to get some of that magic to last for more than a day or two.
If you have a longer-standing issue, you can also expect to return to my office multiple times before you will see lasting changes. Usually around 3-6 sessions. After one session, you will certainly feel a change in your muscle tone and movement patterns. Getting one massage, however, is like eating one meal in the day. It’s not enough. Like many things in life, consistency is the real key. Because of this fact, I offer packages to offset the price and allow you to schedule your sessions in advance. If you’re ready to put in the work and get out of pain, schedule your session today.
